Narrated by James Edward Jones

The last thing Luke Crawford needs is to fall in love with anyone …

He’s got a good thing going as the Boston Harriers’ enforcer, and he likes his classic rides and quiet house to himself.  Getting off with strangers is fine, but nobody is going to come in and mess up his hard-won peace.

Least of all Vintage Jersey Guy, who comes to every home game to chirp Luke in the penalty box.

Sebastian Breckon left a thriving business in New York to help his sister, a single mom struggling to manage a demanding job and a kid with a chronic health condition.

However, Sebastian’s new flower shop in Boston isn’t taking off like he planned. Thankfully, he can blow off steam by chirping Crawford for the cheap shot he laid on Sebastian’s best friend and captain of the New York team.

Then Luke unexpectedly lands on Sebastian’s doorstep for a hookup and hatred turns to heat.

As injuries pile up, the team struggles to clinch a playoff spot, and Luke’s upcoming contract is suddenly on the line, Sebastian feels like the only solid thing in Luke’s life.

Except Luke doesn’t do romance. Especially not the white-picket-fence type.

But when Sebastian’s family’s struggles worsen right as the Harriers need Luke to play his best, he’ll have to decide if he’s ready to take the leap and convince Sebastian to build a future together.

We finally get to know who Vintage Jersey Guy is and why he was being so mean to Luke! He had every reason to be rude to him after what happened with his friend. But I also think that he might have gone a little overboard at times. After all, it’s not like Luke wanted to hurt anyone. He was paid to fight on the ice and defend his teammates and that’s exactly what he did. Only that time he might have being too rough. Sebastian swore he hated Luke. He made it his mission to get under his skin by chirping at him every chance Luke’s in the box. It was the highlight of his day whenever he could ruffle Luke’s feathers even if just a little bit. Sebastian couldn’t stand Luke. But when a hookup brings Luke to his literal doorstep, the right thing should have been to throw him out. Instead, what follows is an intense and heated hookup where hate and anger are completely forgotten. The chemistry between them is unmatched and neither of them can deny it. What should have been a one off, became something they couldn’t live without. Sebastian wanted to dislike Luke. He wanted to only see the man who hurt his friend, but Luke made it impossible. His kindness and care towards his niece was Sebastian’s undoing. No matter how hard he tried to only see Luke’s flaws, Sebastian couldn’t deny how big Luke’s heart really was. I loved that despite of how they started, they both found a balance that worked best for them. They gave each other space when needed but were always there to support one another. I loved them so much! I loved how their story was completely different from the previous books. Each of them had life goals that were different but they found a way to compromise and make it work.

MM Dual POV Hockey romance Enemies to lovers Hate s*x Chirping as flirting Enforcer Tattoos Guncle Grump with a heart of gold Rating: 4/5 - I will probably reread this one 🌶️: 4/5 - there were over a handful of explicit intimate scenes 🏒: 4/5 - there was an excellent amount of hockey in this one TLDR: The tension in this starts quick and holds! I, unlike many who are fans of this series wasn't super excited about Luke Crawford, but I was willing to give it a chance. The tension in this book started very quickly and held for a very long time. And when the tension broke it melted into pure cuteness. I love the way that Brigham Vaughn manages to represent all kinds of preferences. Not just in the bedroom but in life. Her writing does a fantastic job of giving people options. Happily ever after doesn't look the same for everybody. What people want out of a relationship doesn't always look the same. And I love that she throughout her series has given people every flavor. The representation is fabulous. Update: The audiobook is good as always. James Edward Jones does a great job. No distractingly gendered voices or accents. There was one blip where a sentence is repeated but it's hardly worth mentioning. Ultimately, I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes enemies to lovers. I think the tension in this is going to hit that button. Also anyone looking for a nontraditional happily ever after. Thank you to the author and Neon Rainbow Reviews for the advanced review copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

Audiobook Review: Overall – 5 Performance – 5 Story – 5 I read this book with my eyes back in April 2026 and I loved it then. James Edward Jones excellent performance of the story let me love it even more when I listened to the audiobook. My original review is shown below. A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator. 💖💘💞 𝟓 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒 💞💘💖 In other books in this series, we’ve been teased for a while about the “vintage jersey guy” and his chirping of enforcer Luke Crawford. The tension between the “fan” and the hockey player has been building and I was really excited to finally read their story. I could write a nice long review about this book but the blurb already tells the story pretty well. What it doesn’t tell you is that Luke is a really nice guy off the ice. On the ice he’s the tough-guy enforcer but that’s only part of who he is. I loved how caring he is with Sebastian’s niece and other kids. Luke and Sebastian’s HEA isn’t a traditional one but it works for them. I loved reading this book and more than once it brought a tear to my eyes. I’m looking forward to reading the next book, Game Misconduct. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Cheap Shot, Scoring Chances book 5, by Brigham Vaughn brings us Luke's story, at long last. Of course, James Edward Jones narrates the heck out of Luke and all the other characters. As folks used to say, I’d listen to him read the phone book. Now, like many readers, I had been waiting to get to know Luke, who, as one of the team's "enforcers" of sorts, comes off as a brash loner, but we can tell has depths he keeps well hidden. Enter Sebastian, a florist who has just moved to Boston to be near his sister and niece, and open a new flower shop to go with his two in NYC. Luke and Sebastian are really sweet together, and the story is solid one. As usual, I loved it even more the second time. Pick this book up for a good weekend read or listen.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

ALC Review ⭐️5 I think this is my second favorite of the series! The audiobook definitely solidified that for me. The narrator, as always, was amazing. Same as when I read the book, I really appreciate the portrayal of non-traditional romantic relationship dynamics, both in the main pair and side relationships. I also enjoyed the look into someone on the aromantic spectrum. I haven’t read many books with that. Listening to this has made me excited for the last book in the series to come out.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Did I read this book as soon as possible? Absolutely. Did I also enjoy the heck out of the audiobook version? YES, I DID and it made me an even bigger Luke Crawford fan. I knew I liked the book, it's actually up there as one of my favorites for antagonists to lovers stories. It hits just right and hearing it on audio just brings it to life in a way that cements how much I love this author and the way that their relationships are so varied and unique to the characters themselves. 10/10 no notes on this one. If you're on the fence... just do it. You won't regret it.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

This audio book brings the amazing story of Luke and Sebastian to life!! The amazing voice of James Edward Jones is and experience you will never foget! Sebastian Breckon aka the vintage jersey guy who just happens to be a florist.. Sebastian has hated Luke Crawford for his on ice craziness until one day thier personal lives crashes together. Sebastian is so busy running his two very successful New York flower shop an trying to open his newest branch of Twig & Bloom in Boston so he can be near his sister and niece to help with his nieces chronic illnesses. Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

CHEAP SHOT is the fifth book in the Scoring Chances series. It can be read as a standalone but I don't know why you'd do that. It needs to be read in the order the author intended to fully experience the book and series. What to expect: 🏒Enemies to Lovers 🏒Hurt / Comfort 🏒Opposites Attract 🏒Found Family 🏒Aromantic Spectrum Rep Sebastian Breckon has a huge dislike for Luke Crawford. Sebastian thinks he plays dirty and hurt his friend Nicky from the New York team. Sebastian makes it his mission to chirp him every time he's in the penalty box. Now that he's moved from New York to Boston to help his sister care for he daughter, he makes sure he's there every game to let him know what he thinks of him and his playing. Will Sebastian risk losing his best friend that Luke hurt by continuing to see Luke? Luke Crawford doesn't know who Sebastian really was but in his head he's just vintage jersey guy. He sits by the penalty box and chirps to him at every single game. When Luke agrees to go to meet a hook up he isn't prepared when Sebastian opens the door. Should he turn around and go home absolutely but something about him makes him want to stay. They fall into a hate sex situation both enjoying the animosity between them. What started out as just a hookup is slowly creeping into territory that Luke wasn't expecting. Can Luke figure out how to be in a relationship and still have the space he needs? I love this series and finally getting Luke's story is everything I needed. I love the love hate between them. Knowing they probably shouldn't be doing this but doing it anyway all the while Sebastian continues to chirp Luke at every game. Their chemistry was explosive in every way. And getting to see more of the team is always a bonus for me!! I can't wait for what's next for Tanner and Leif!! Audio Review I think this is my favorite audio to date! Hearing Luke Crawford brought to life was "chef's kiss". James Edward Jones again does and amazing job with Luke and Sebastian. He was able to bring all that angst and the love/hate they had going on to life in a way that had me craving more even though I knew how the story played out I still couldn't stop listening.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Audio review: Luke’s story blew me away. Brigham writes some of my favorite hockey romances and this didn’t disappoint. The e2l element was also believable. James Edward Jones was a new narrator for me and I found his performance to be enjoyable.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: One of the things I love about Brigham's books is the nuances that are captured in the audio version of her books. I tend to read fast in a need to figure out the plot and the characters and where it's all going. But listening opens up a whole new understanding of what the book is all about. The narrator really brings out emotions and cynicism that I missed in the reading... I love this series so much and am glad that I added this audiobook to my collection. Book synopsis: Luke and Sebastian are the least likely people to be in a room without coming to blows. Seb has made it his duty to harass Luke, always wearing an opposing team jersey to Boston Harriers' home games. Luke is VERY annoyed every time he hears Seb jeering him. Good for us that their hook-up profiles don't give enough info for them to avoid each other outside of the arena. In the end, their story is proof that a one-time hook-up doesn't always mean one time, and can become something more.BV does an amazing job of representing the spectrum of queer identities and how her characters come to terms with what they learn about themselves and others. This book also features a family member with a chronic disease and how it affects the family and those around them who care. This book highlights the need for community and how sport can open up a world of caring that we don't often expect.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Enemies-to-lovers I’m a huge fan of Brigham Vaughn’s hockey romances and this one was no exception. Her characters are vivid and her descriptions are spot-on. She keeps me engaged at every turn. This book was set up nicely in the last one, so I wasn’t surprised to see Vintage Jersey Guy and Luke going at it – in all the right ways. Hey, hate sex is a powerful thing. Soon, though, they learn more about each other. Like that Sebastian has a niece with a life-threatening illness. Harper can live with the disease – but it’s a huge strain on her mother as well as Sebastian who is always there to support. In fact, his sister and niece were the reason he moved to Boston. Luke is a D-man. A big hulking figure. Unbeknownst to him, he’s Harper’s favorite player. So when she gets to meet him, he sort of turns to goo. Sebastian sees this. Things shift. Now, it’s not all hearts and flowers. Sebastian just got through a bad break up and has really valid reasons for his animosity toward Luke. Luke is a hookup guy – men, women, whomever. He’s not built for relationships. Or so he’s convinced himself. I will say this is a hell of a book that I really enjoyed. I especially like how the next one has been set up…more to come! James Edward Jones is a fantastic narrator and he always does a great job with Brigham’s books – more please!

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

I really like this narrator. I love the tone of his voice and the way he performs. It adds flair and voice to a good story I like listening while doing chores or outside. Luke is one of the tough characters he's not the easiest to like but I love me a bad boy hard character. I find it funny that his Interest is vintage jersey heckler. The guy thats at all the games, roots for opposite team and loves chirping Luke in the penalty box. In the book we find out why and then in a strange twist they become I guess you'd say f...buddies. they don't even like each other. Sebastian has a sickly niece and this is another twist that brings Luke and Sebastian into each other's orbits. Such a cute scene too. I will say I totally loved both Luke and Sebation and think this is my favorite book in this series and one of my favorite Brigham Vaughn couples. They just totally work and are not your perfect, conventional couple. If you like Enemies to lovers, cute kids, found family, sports romance and hockey you will love this.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Note:  This is book 5 in this series and has spoilers for the first four books.  There are also spoilers for previous series here, but it doesn't take away from this story.  Technically it could be read as a standalone, but I recommend the other books in this series too ;) Luke Crawford has a plan.  He needs to play two more years for the Boston Harriers and the he's going to retire from hockey and open a bar in Boston.  He's not looking for love.  He's not looking for the picket fence dream.  He's got his house - he's spent his years in Boston DIY'ing the hell out of it and he has no desire to move on.  He likes his team, his coaches, his role and his management.  He just needs to get this contract done so he can settle and finalize his plans.  He really does not want to be traded again and start over someplace else. He's going to be 35 and he knows he coming to the end of his career.  Every injury, heck, every game, takes longer to recover from these days. One think Luck Crawford does NOT like are labels.  If he gets lonely, well there are apps for that ;)  He tends to go for hookups with men who are ok with his boundaries.  He's not looking for a relationship.  At all. Sebastian Breckon has just moved to Boston from New York.  He's got two successful floral shops in NYC and now he's opened a branch in Boston.  He's moved because his sister, Bri, is going through a divorce and has a young daughter, Harper, with a chronic health condition.  Their parents aren't in a position to help and live in Arizona, so he steps up. He's financially stable/successful and he's not letting down his family.  His focus is his work and and his family.  He's not interested in a relationship either.  His last relationship ended because his boyfriend did not like the priority Sebastian placed on his business and his sister and niece.  So Sebastian was happy to move to Boston. Sebastian is a big New York hockey fan.  At all the games in New York, he sat behind the penalty box and chirped the opposing players hard.  His favorite target?  Luke Crawford.  Luke has some bad history with Seb's best friend, Nick Connors who was the captain of the NY team but who has been off the ice for years with residual issues from a concussion.  So imagine his surprise when his app hookup turns out to be none other than Luke Crawford.  They are both shocked, but hey, don't let a little hatred get in the way of a good time ;) Despite knowing they shouldn't, the continue to meet up using the hookup app.  Then Seb's niece is scheduled for a Make a Wish day with the Harriers.  And guess how her favorite player is?  That's right.  Mr. Luke.  Luke is furious when he sees Seb at this stadium day for Harper.  He feels blindsided, but Seb DID message him through the app - he just didn't see it ;)  They manage to make it through the day, but it's tense. Eventually they trade numbers and then Luke is injured.  While he still hooks up with Sebastian, he's unable to drive so Sebastian has to drive him home.  Things get a little weird then for a bit, but eventually they get back to clear communication.  They start hanging out a Luke's watching hockey and hooking up.  Except is it just a hookup now? When Bri and Harper need help and Sebastian is at Luke's, they end up going over to Bri's so that Luke can help with an emergency home repair.  The cat is out of the bag with Bri at that point, and she's none too pleased.  Sebastian has a secret that could blow this whole thing apart.  But he's seen that he misjudged what kind of man Luke Crawford really is.  Can he reconcile the two and see Luke for the man he is now?  Can this "situationship" continue?  What about the future? Can two men who are so independent and need space make a relationship work?  You'll have to listen to find out :) Oh man.  I LOVED this one.  First, I really appreciate all the different perspectives this series covers.  We have poly relationships, bi characters, gay characters and in this case, aromantic characters.  Luke and Sebastian are way more compatible on so many levels than they can even imagine.  Luke as an enforcer has had a job to do for his team.  He plays hard and he happy he landed in Boston at the end of his career and he doesn't want to move on again.  Sebastian is happy to support his sister and his niece.  He is very focused on his business.  They each like what they have together but the don't want to be smothered.  They need space.  If they can get past the big bad secret, maybe they can make it work.  Thankfully there is no long drawn out separation here.  They are both mature men who come to their senses pretty quickly.  I actually really appreciated their perspectives. As someone who greatly values alone time and having my own space, I related so much to these characters. Janes Edward Jones does a fantastic job here.  I loved the chirps, the playfulness, the sensitivity of the story around Harper and her health condition.  There were a LOT of character here.  I loved the family characters of this team and the extended family and friends.  The voices are so good and consistent. Luke's growly grump was perfection!  I cannot wait for Tanner's story!  These guys are SO up in each other's business.  The whole party?  I laughed out loud more than once!  Highly recommended.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

I loooved Luke and Sebastian! The chirping is fierce with these two, and I loved that Seb’s chirps didn’t ever dwindle, even when they end up feeling the feels! I like the Harrier’s organization, it feels a lot like an extended family, even if Luke has always tried to keep his teammates at arm’s length and his life as private as possible.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

About the story: I was very impatient and curious about Luke's story and I loved it!!! I loved both Luke and Sebastian, I loved how they went from hate to hooking up to enjoying each other's company to love, it was a slow process, with a lot of questioning, and very enjoyable and entertaining to read. I loved that they were honest with themselves and with each other, with no miscommunication or misunderstandings. As in the other books of the series, I loved the found hockey family! Regarding the audio: I had loved the book, and I also loved the audio, I really enjoyed revisiting this book and the narration is great. As in previous books, the narrator does a great work portraying both characters, and conveying emotions. I recommend. I got an ALC and this is my honest review.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Story: I'll never get enough of Brigham Vaughn's sport romances! Anothe great book in this series! The found family vibes are a brilliant setting for each story, including Luke and Sebastian. Their challenges and development of the relationship felt truly relatable and genuine, making the book a very pleasurable read! Audio: Loved the narration! All the feels were spot on and the voice acting was top notch!

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

The set-up situation for Luke and Sebastian was so silly I could not stop enjoying it! We have known Luke that was stubborn about relationships, so Sebastian was the most not obvious choice to change this! That is until they are matched together and come face to face. All the verbal spars at each other are hilarious and I thought it was fun to watch that grow into respect and affection. Great chemistry between them but I also looked forwarded to Luke's time with Sebastian's niece Harper. Luke was such a softy for her. I especially enjoyed Jame's narration for every character!

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Luke (Crawford) & Sebastian "'It's almost like being open and honest and having loving support is good for the game or something."' "There was a fine line between love and hate and Sebastian and Luke were living proof that it didn't take much to tip from one side of it to the other." I love the idea that these two started from a purely antagonistic standpoint and then simply could not stop thinking about one another and watching everything slowly build from there. Both guys seem very anti-relationship and anti-romance or aromantic, but it works for their personalities and it doesn't detract from the actual romance of the story. Luke has been a long serving side character in Brigham's hockey universe and it's great to see him finally find his complimentary partner. The scenes with Luke and Sebastian's niece Harper are incredibly adorable and precious. We've seen Luke's friendly side with kids in the past, mostly with Connor's kids, but it made it really easy to see how Luke could connect with Harper because he has no ill will against children and he's simply just a very hands-on & physical hockey player. I'm sure it gets said often, but Catherine O'Shea is like an angel when she shows up in these books. I barely remember her from Kelly's story so long ago (and I read it 2 years after its release), but any and all of the stories from Connor's and within this series have included her in some way and she's always there for the player/Harrier employee and their eventual partner and is one of the best people that we get to meet just as a random side character in this series. I knew Luke's story was going to be a challenge because he's such a seemingly distant and violent individual. But the amount of emotional growth that we get to see from him--and Sebastian-- is really quite incredible and I feel this is one of the more well-rounded stories we've gotten with these guys and this series. Getting the chance to also see Luke truly explore his personal feelings on staying with the team versus retirement and moving into something else also shows a level of maturity that we really haven't seen from some of the older players before. I absolutely loved my read of Cheap Shot and I cannot wait to see what we're going to get between Leif & Tanner up next! I know they're gonna be a hoot to read, since their tension has been building in the background of several books and seemingly for years. "There was a reason Luke never wanted to leave Boston, and it had nothing to do with the weather or even the city. It was the people. His people." *Second hockey book in a row to have a photo shoot with the players to get shelter animals adopted, the other being Charming Puckboy. ** As someone who tentatively sits on the edge of the ace spectrum, it was really great to see an easy and uncomplicated conversation with someone (not an MC) that lives there and isn't afraid to talk about it. Their coverage of aromantic was also really great to see, as it did affect both of the MCs in their situation. I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review. (Apr 2026) Audiobook Update (June 2026) Narrated by James Edward Jones The funny thing about this story is that it plays out like it'll be the last in the series, but we know Tanner & Leif have their tete-a-tete coming up next. What I love the most about Luke & Sebastian's story is how much we get to dive into Luke's psyche and understand the man beneath the enforcer on the ice. He proves to be incredibly intelligent, secretly quite funny, and surprisingly sweet when he wants to be. While his initial interactions with Sebastian are tense and heated, when their relationship moves to something more, they both bring out the sweet sides from one another. I loved James' performance for these two, because we get the chance to feel the emotions in each scene through the inflection that you have to essentially create yourself when reading the book on its own. I love how seamlessly James can move from one character to the next. And even if that's some creative editing, the simple fact that he can clearly have several different voices for the male MCs throughout the series, but also the women and children. I loved Harper in this story. She's the ultimate side character and peace keeper; and the initial positive common ground for Luke & Sebastian. Cheap Shot is yet another brilliant story and the audiobook performance just enhances it. I don't know how I can move on from these two. They definitely are my favorite romance in this series to date. I received an authorized copy of this audiobook and am volunteering my honest review.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Updated June 2026 I’ve had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook of Cheap Shot, and I loved it so much! Since I’m not a native English speaker, I was really waiting for this audiobook release because I wanted to actually hear Luke’s voice (especially since he’s one of my absolutely favourite characters in the series). The narrator, James Edward Jones, does an amazing job bringing him to life. He totally nailed the tension, the playful penalty box chirping, and also the emotional moments. It was like having them next to me all the time. Highly recommended! Thank you, Neon Rainbow ARC Reviews for this free ALC. This is my honest review and recommendation. ***************** “Hey.” Crawford caught him by the chin, his grip firm on Sebastian’s jaw. “C’mere.” And then they were kissing. Sebastian’s mind blanked out for a moment, shock and sudden need hitting him square in the chest at once and leaving him winded. Cheap Shot by Brigham Vaughn is the fifth book in the Scoring Chances series. I’ve been waiting for Luke’s story and finally I could read it. He’s one of my favourite characters since he first showed up in the series. The enemies-to-lovers energy between Luke and Sebastian was just chef’s kiss. I loved the whole “Vintage Jersey Guy” vibe and how their petty penalty box chirping turned into something way deeper. But what I really loved was seeing the real Luke. Underneath that tough NHL enforcer exterior and the stress of his career ending, he’s actually a sweetheart. When he started helping Sebastian’s sister fix up her place and being so amazing with Harper? Yeah, I was a complete goner. Cheap Shot is just one of those stories that hits all the right notes. Between the high-stakes hockey drama and the emotional stuff with Harper, I was glued to the pages. Seeing them finally figure things out and go public was the best. Highly recommended! Thank you, Brigham Vaughn for this free eARC. This is my honest review and recommendation.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Again I have to say I just LOVE Brigham Vaughn!! Her sports world is a happy place! I was a hockey romance reader before the Heated Rivalry craze (I love HR too. Read the books after watching the series). I’ll read all forms of hockey romance - straight, queer, poly, etc. I’ll be honest…after the first books, I did not think I would like Luke Crawford’s book. He was just such an ass in the other books. Plus, I had no idea how he would mesh with a MM pairing. I did love “vintage jersey guy” from his first appearance. Meeting Sebastian and the connection with Harper and her favorite player was so fun!! It was fun to watch to watch their relationship grow from hate-sex to something more. I also loved seeing a different version of HEA. Relationships are not cookie-cutter, so it was great to see aromanticism represented too. Really, really enjoyed this installment! I also really enjoyed the audio. Love the narrator. Always enjoyable.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

Cheap Shot is the fifth book in the Scoring Chances series and can be listened to as a standalone. One of my favourite books this year in audio? Instantly devoured. Luke and Sebastian are amazing, delightful and soooo good together. I’ve said for a long time that Brigham Vaughn writes some of the most nuanced characters. Sebastian and Luke are prime examples of this; both of them were absolutely fantastic. Sebastian has so much going on with his sister, his niece, and his flower shops. He handles it all really well, with kindness, patience, and pragmatic thinking. Luke’s relationship with Sebastian’s niece, Harper, was absolutely adorable. I really related to Luke. I am very similar to Luke when it comes to relationships, so it was incredibly important for me to see it written so beautifully and positively on page. I know this is the wrong series 😂, but these two are relationship goals for me. Their dynamic was so complicated and delicious. I adored how openly they communicated and how honest they were with each other. Everything just seemed to fit so well with these two; they understood each other on a fundamental level. Their chemistry was burning up the pages. When Sebastian defended Luke? Swoon. When Luke takes care of Sebastian? So sweet. The banter (I loved how this continued) and the enemies to lovers trope just made it so much more delectable. I absolutely loved how James Edward Jones narrated their banter, sass and passion… they almost melted my phone. The team and their families really shone in this one. Honestly, all the side characters did. I definitely wanted to see more of Sebastian’s friendship with Nicky. I loved seeing glimpses of Jesse and Connor. Sebastian and Luke are now fighting them for the top spot of my favourite couple in this series. I really enjoyed Luke thinking about his future after hockey, in the past when characters have done this, it would annoy me. However, I think it’s a testament to how strong and connected this team is that it didn’t bother me at all. There were definitely some surprising moments, some scenes that had tears in my eyes, and the ending!! It actually made my breath hitch. I did not want this audiobook to end! Overall, a passionate, witty, well narrated story that made the characters even more engaging - there was nothing I didn’t love. Tanner is next and I’m so excited!!! I’m hoping Nicky might get book at some point as well. This book contains triggering content such as emotionally neglectful and absent parents and a child with a life-threatening condition being rushed to the hospital. 🏒 MM Hockey Romance 😤 Enemies to lovers 💐 Opposites attracts 🛏️ Accidental hook up 🥰 Found family 💚 Aromantic spectrum rep ❤️‍🔥 Emotional slow burn 🥺 Hurt/ comfort 🧲 Close proximity Plot: 📚📚📚📚📚 Character rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sexiness: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Feels: 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 Writing style: 🖊🖊🖊🖊🖊 Narration by James Edward Jones: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

"A therapist would have a f****ing field day with me, Sebastian thought wryly, though it was a small consolation that Crawford was probably even more screwed up than he was." Thank you, @BrighamVaughn & Neon Rainbow, for my audiobook of Cheap Shot narrated by James Edward Jones. This is book 5 of the Scoring Chances series. Cheap Shot can be read as a standalone, but why miss out on the previous books. Luke Crawford has actually appeared in both the Rules of the Game & Relationship Goals hockey series. Readers have also met Sebastian! I adore Brigham Vaughn's hockey universe, they have such dimensional characters, which often defy stereotypes. And both Luke & Sebastian were beautiful complex. Cheap Shot is full of hook ups, heat, heart and concludes with a HEA. Like other books by Brigham, the book is not purely a romance these characters have life's & personal hurdles which are explored. "And then they were kissing" 💐 MM Romance 🏒 Hockey Player 💐 Florist 🏒 Enemies to Lovers 💐 Opposites Attract 🏒 Hurt/Comfort 💐 Found Family 🏒 Aromantic Spectrum Rep 💐 Dual POV 🏒 Epilogue 💐 Cameos & Name Drops I am excited for Tanner Clayton & Leif Rasmussen's story in Game Misconduct. But, I secretly also want Brie's story, ideally with Tom & Krista.

Cheap Shot (The Scoring Chances Series #5) - Audiobook

This book is awesome! Luke and Sebastian are not alike and definitely didn’t even like each other…at the beginning! Their journey is filled with chirps and also worries. Sebastian’s niece has a chronic illness that made these two look differently at each other, eventually! The audio version brings out the enemies to lovers for these two! It rocks!
